Gliding through the sky with the wind on your face is one of the most memorable experiences a traveler can have. At Pamair, we provide our guests with more than just a quick flight: we offer a fully planned, safe, and premium aviation experience from the moment you step onto our runway to the final touchdown. Here is what to expect during each stage of your flight.
Quick Summary: Step-by-Step Flight Stages
The PamAir flight experience is divided into 4 key stages:
- Welcome & Registry (Flight -20 Min): Arrive at our runway for check-in, paperwork, and a warm welcome beverage in our hangar lounge.
- Safety Briefing & Fitting (Flight -10 Min): Your pilot explains the flight path, fits your helmet, and runs through cockpit communication rules.
- Takeoff & Climb: Strap into the passenger seat, start the engine, and climb smoothly after a short takeoff run.
- Sky Tour & Recording: Fly over the white travertine terraces and ancient ruins while our GoPro cameras record your entire flight.
Stage 1: Welcome and Check-in
Your journey begins 20 minutes before your slot at our private airfield near Pamukkale:
- Hangar Lounge: Our operations team greets you. You can check out the aircraft up close and chat with our pilots.
- Documentation: In compliance with Sivil Aviation General Directorate (SHGM) rules, passenger registry forms are completed.
Flight Prep: Learn what to wear and bring on your flight day in Preparing for Your First Gyrocopter Flight.
Stage 2: Pre-Flight Safety Briefing
Ten minutes before takeoff, your pilot guides you to the MTO Sport gyrocopter:
- Helmet & Intercom: We fit your specialized aviation helmet. The built-in noise-canceling headset allows you to talk to the pilot clearly over the engine noise.
- Strap In: The pilot helps you board the aircraft and secures your 4-point safety harness.
Stage 3: Takeoff and Ascent
Once all checks are complete, the pilot starts the engine and taxis to the runway:
- Rotor Spin: The main rotor begins to turn. Since gyrocopters do not takeoff vertically like helicopters, the aircraft makes a short run down the asphalt.
- Liftoff: The gyrocopter lifts off after about 50-100 meters. The climb is extremely smooth, with no sudden G-forces or cabin pressure shifts.
Aviation Science: Read about flight dynamics and autorotation in What is a Gyrocopter.
Stage 4: Cruising Over Pamukkale and Landing
At cruise altitude, the white travertine pools and historical ruins unfold beneath you:
- Guided Flight: The pilot shares historical details about Hierapolis and the travertine basins via your headset.
- GoPro Recording: Fuselage-mounted cameras capture high-definition footage of your reaction and the scenic backdrop.
- Smooth Landing: The pilot alights back to the runway. The autogyro settles onto the asphalt with a very soft, short landing run.
